Socks & Gloves is a grassroots team effort to help provide assistance for those who live on the streets of Sacramento. Our goal is to connect people and resources together by providing homeless folks with socks and gloves (and other supplies) during the colder weather months and then additional resources during the Summer months, while also keeping an eye on how to help people find their way off the streets. This effort is sponsored by local community members focused on social justice along with several local churches and businesses. |

We go out at least one time per month to pass out socks and gloves and other supplies, and we invite you to join us in these adventures. You do not have to be experienced in working with the homeless or religious in any way in order to participate. We are not experts by any means, but we desire to effect significant life change in those we encounter. |

In the context of building relationships with homeless friends, we aim to be a support and a voice of hope for others to discover ways out of difficult circumstances, to break addictions, and to find healing. Homelessness is an enormous problem in our region and there are not easy solutions, but we believe that building respectful relationships with the homeless is an important first step along with helping to empower life change through emphases such as resume coaching and job resources. |
